Stewart Octoberfest SessionOn the night of Friday, October 2nd the Ruins Terrace skate team rolled into Stewart B.C. We were greeted by Johan Slam, our long time friend and team rider. Johan had just built a mini pipe in his warehouse about four feet high, and about 25 feet wide. The plan was to skate, party, and check out some glaciers for the weekend. Once we got settled in we skated with Johan into the wee hours of the morning. Saturday morning after a couple shots of espresso and breakfast we shook off the hangovers and headed towards Hyder making our way to Salmon Glacier, about 35 kms beyond Stewart. "Ryan Gosselin"Ryan, our Quesnel shop dude/team rider was just in Terrace for a week long skate vacation. Ryan threw down and killed it. Every spot we brought him to he destroyed. In the 7 days he was here he learned how to play wizard sticks, he learned that the more north you get the better life is, he got half a dozen photos, around 30-40 clips , and he also learned that Jerrycat is the cutest companion in the world. Ryan's footage can be seen in our upcoming skate vid that is going to be dropped this winter(the date and name of the video is still to be determined). 10th Annual Riverboat Days Skateboard Contest ResultsWe hosted the 10th Annual Riverboat Days skateboard contest, on August 2nd at the Terrace Skateboard park. It was a good turn out, and a fun day. Here are the results: Men's Open: 14-17: Thanks for everyone who came out for the day! Kitsch '09Come down to the shop and check out the new Kitsch '09 gear. New hats, t-shirts, and decks! Also be sure to check out the new Kitsch site at www.kitschskateboards.com 100 Days to Hockeyville skateboard competition So another skate comp has come and past, on June 6th we hosted the "100 days to hockeyville skate comp" and it was definitely a success. The sun was out, we had a decent turn out of skaters and spectators so it was pretty much a full house at the Terrace skatepark, also Gerran from Mr.Mike's Bar and Grill was on location grilling Mike burgers for eats (thanks Gerran). Mill SlurpHello... ... Finally the skate season is upon us, we're getting out and hitting every "dry" day we can. The last two skate sessions I've been apart of at "the mill" have had 7 skaters both times,Stoked!!. Anyway, ever since "the mill" was demolished it seams as though "the mill" is the new hot spot in Terrace for skating. Actually we've been skating this mill just over a year now and we're hyped on it's one year old birth day. Anyway here is a video of our first few skate sessions at the mill this year. Thanks and have a good one eh. Later eh. Eh. Blog Video:
Williams CreekSo finally everything falls into place.....the weather is good, the snowpack is solid and it works out that Jon, myself and Colin are all in town and good to go all at the same time! This hasn't happened once all year.....and this is what we've been waiting for all year. This is the usual crew. The three of us have always shredded and filmed together since the 90's. We're stoked and as long as we can get up the Williams Creek chute, shit is going to get thrown down . Is it the beggining or the end?So, we've had a pretty good shred season so far this year. So many things to talk about, but where do we start? First off, we finally have a new site...so we can start documenting our gnarlyness throughout the season as each week or so goes by.....instead of us taking...oh, 4 or 5 years to make another Ruins Video. Oh ya...on that note....YES, we do have a new video almost ready to drop!!! "Goodfoot Shredalot" will be released soon. Just putting the finishing touches on it and she's good to go. Shred the Gnar - women's snowboarding tour of northern BCWe're stoked. Inspired by a Burton grant for women that we didn't get, we decided to hook up with our friend Sarah Zimmerman at saz communications and six other girl riders to organize a crazy 8-day tour of 7 northern BC mountains. We're kicking it off at Quesnel's Troll Mountain, followed by night-skiing at Heart Highlands in Prince George, a trip to North America's longest T-bar at Murray Ridge in Fort St. |
